At the February 12 Annual General Meeting during the 2026 Soil Health Conference, SaskSoil recognized three board members whose years of leadership and volunteer service have helped guide the organization through an important period of growth and change.
Wade Hainstock

After three years on the SaskSoil Board, Wade Hainstock stepped down following his term at the AGM. Wade brought a deep understanding of the agriculture industry and long-term perspective to board discussions. His experience serving on numerous boards provided valuable guidance on governance, decision-making, and how organizations like SaskSoil can operate effectively.
Wade was also a steady voice on financial oversight, contributing thoughtful feedback on budgeting and financial management. Most recently, he served on the Finance Committee, helping ensure the organization maintained strong stewardship of its resources.
Throughout his time on the board, Wade’s experience and practical insight helped provide strategic direction for programs benefiting SaskSoil members and the broader agricultural community.
Mark Hoimyr

Mark Hoimyr completed six years of service on the SaskSoil Board, contributing significantly to the organization during a time of transition and growth. Mark played an important role in providing continuity as the organization evolved from the Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association to SaskSoil.
A strong advocate for keeping producer voices at the centre of the organization’s work, Mark was instrumental in welcoming and mentoring new board members and helping them understand the organization while making the experience enjoyable along the way.
Mark served on several committees during his tenure, most recently Governance, Finance, FaRM, and SAW. His broad involvement gave him a deep understanding of the organization and helped strengthen connections with partners across Saskatchewan’s beef, forage, and range management sectors.
He also contributed in hands-on ways, including hosting field days and helping organize events that connected producers with soil health knowledge and practical experiences. Known for his enthusiasm for cattle and grass-based systems, Mark was a strong advocate for the role of livestock in healthy soil systems.
Rob Wunder

Rob Wunder also completed six years of service on the SaskSoil Board. Rob brought an intuitive understanding of soil function and integrated livestock and cropping systems, generously sharing his knowledge with fellow board members and the broader SaskSoil community.
Most recently serving on the Executive Committee, Rob provided important organizational guidance and helped shape strategic discussions around the future of SaskSoil.
Rob was also instrumental in developing SaskSoil’s Ag in Motion demonstration plots, helping design rotations that showcased soil health principles to thousands of visitors while also educating fellow board members and producers.
During his time on the board, Rob contributed to numerous initiatives, including the FaRM and SAW programs, conference planning, and Ag in Motion programming. Like his fellow retiring board members, he also hosted field days that helped bring soil health conversations directly to Saskatchewan producers.
A Lasting Contribution
Wade, Mark, and Rob each brought a unique perspective to the SaskSoil Board, combining practical agricultural experience with a strong commitment to improving soil health across the province.
Beyond their governance roles, all three helped foster a positive and collaborative board culture—bringing knowledge, thoughtful discussion, and more than a few moments of humour to meetings along the way.
Their shared dedication to Saskatchewan’s agricultural and food-producing community, along with their passion for learning and sharing knowledge with fellow land managers and producers, has helped strengthen SaskSoil’s work across the province.
SaskSoil extends sincere thanks to Wade, Mark, and Rob for their years of service and looks forward to their continued involvement in Saskatchewan’s soil health community.
