SaskSoil is pleased to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors: Luke McCreary, Warren McAuley, and Brett Laroche. Each brings valuable experience, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to advancing soil health across Saskatchewan.
At the same time, we extend our sincere thanks to Wade Hainstock, who recently retired from the board, as well as Mark Hoimyr and Rob Wunder, who have completed six years of dedicated service. Their leadership and contributions have helped strengthen SaskSoil’s programs and community over the years.
Luke McCreary

Luke McCreary is a professional engineer and fifth-generation farmer from Bladworth, SK, where he farms on a multi-generational mixed grain and livestock operation. With several years of experience in agricultural equipment design, Luke brings a strong interest in innovation and practical problem-solving to the board.
When he’s not in the tractor cab, Luke is usually in the shop working on equipment improvements or repairing the latest breakdown. As a father raising the next generation on a long-standing family farm, he is committed to improving farming practices and soil health to ensure the sustainability of their operation for years to come.
Warren McAuley

Warren McAuley's work focuses on conservation agriculture, soil health, and cropping strategies that support resilient farming systems.
Warren’s interest in nature-based agricultural systems began while volunteering in Madagascar, where he saw firsthand how Nature Based Solutions can support smallholder farmers. Warren has worked in chemical efficacy and breeding research and contributed to a systems research program at the University of Saskatchewan focused on Nature Based Solutions. He completed his Master of Science in Soil Science in 2023, with research focused on soil health in intercropping systems.
Outside of work, Warren enjoys spending time outdoors mountain biking, gardening, playing sports, or restoring his classic car. He also supports agricultural outreach initiatives and has been involved with demonstration plots through the Canada Food Grains Bank. Warren lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Brett Laroche

Brett Laroche is a fourth-generation farmer who grew up on a mixed conventional farm near Northern Light, SK. He studied engineering at the University of Saskatchewan and was a partner in a municipal engineering firm in Saskatoon until 2023.
Today, Brett farms near Vanscoy, SK, where he and his wife operate Farm One Forty with their two children. Their diversified operation produces beef, lamb, pork, honey, market garden vegetables, commodity grains, and animal feed. Since 2013, they have been incorporating regenerative agriculture practices into their farming system.
Building a Stronger Soil Community Together
The addition of Luke, Warren, and Brett—along with SaskSoil’s new Executive Director Katelyn Duncan and Communications & Events Coordinator Carrie Rode who joined the organization in November, 2025 —marks an exciting new chapter for the organization.
Their diverse backgrounds and shared dedication to soil health will help SaskSoil continue advancing practical solutions for farmers across the province. At the same time, the organization remains deeply grateful to Wade, Mark, and Rob for the strong foundation they helped build through their years of service. Read more.
Together, this blend of experience and fresh ideas will support SaskSoil’s ongoing work to promote sustainable soil management practices that benefit farmers, communities, and the environment across Saskatchewan.
