About this Event
Cover cropping can significantly enhance the quality and fertility of the soil, ensuring that it supports robust plant growth and contributes to sustainable agricultural practices.
Cover Cropping involves planting specific crops, such as clover or rye, during the off-season when the soil would otherwise be bare. Cover crops help to prevent soil erosion, suppress weeds, and enhance soil structure. As these plants grow, they also contribute organic matter back into the soil when they are eventually tilled under, enriching the soil with nutrients and improving its overall health.
Learn about the basics of cover cropping, seed mixes, timing, nitrogen management and best practices to improve soil health and farm profitability.
Tickets: $20 + GST, refundable to those who attend in person.
